Bold Tendencies is a unique project which is dedicated to showcasing exclusive new work by international artists. The non-profit commissioning initiative is currently taking place (30 June – 30 September 2013) on the top four floors of an unused multi-storey car park in Peckham, South London. Bold Tendencies works to support and encourage the vision of artists, providing a platform for their work to gain recognition and, hopefully, praise.

Founded in 2007, Bold Tendencies has been attracting more and more guests every year, and is actually free of charge. Last year, the annual event attracted over 60,000 visitors, including local residents as well as international art-lovers. As the project grows in stature and popularity, it is attracting support and acclaim from significant figures within the international art scene.

Bold Tendencies works on a site-specific basis, commissioning artworks generally created especially for the event. The 2013 edition has been curated by Joe Balfour and features new site-specific commissions by artists including: Nina Beier, Nicholas Brooks, Steven Claydon, Benedict Drew, Cecile B Evans, Grand George, Piotr Lakomy, Jimmy Merris, Ruth Proctor and Total Vitality & Laura McLean-Ferris.

These commissions are in the form of a fully integrated and overlapping programme of fixed works, experience-based works and clusters of related happenings. The nature of this is innovative and inter-disciplinary, befitting recent significant and current developments with a dynamic interpretation of sculpture.

The project has been generously supported by supporters such as: Southwark Council, Bloomberg, Cass Art, Cass Sculpture Foundation, ArtStack/James London, ArtReview, DieSpeker Marble and Terazzo Limited, Omnicolour, and some who wish to remain anonymous.
