Founder of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, Marco Rebora, said of the 2013 shortlist: “This year’s shortlist includes innovative designs that demonstrate how the restaurant and bar industry is embracing and valuing design in the current competitive market. With over 60 countries represented in this year’s shortlist, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards celebrate design as a universal language in the industry. With such a saturated market, the shortlist highlights establishments which understand and appreciate that design is becoming more synonymous with brand, as well as the drinking and dining experience.”

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards ceremony will be held at London’s Farmiloe Building on 12th September 2013, where the winners will be announced. The event will incorporate a unique project this time around, where past ‘Best Restaurant’ and ‘Best Bar’ winners will create four different themed bar areas using only white products, supplied by sponsors and partners of this year’s awards. To enhance the significance of the awards’ fifth anniversary, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards’ own team of event partners will be designing the fifth area, the main ceremonial stage and pop-up food space. This concept will be titled ‘The Box Project’.

Regarding The Box Project, Rebora commented: “We have invited the four ‘best’ restaurant and bar winners from the last four years to ‘think outside the box’ and each create a different themed pop-up space using products found in four Restaurant and Bar Design Awards supplier ‘boxes’ – One for every past year of the Awards.”
