The Shard Oblix at The Shard | London Dining Taken to New HeightsOblix at The Shard is the latest creation from Japanese restaurateur Rainer Becker, the mastermind behind globally represented restaurants Zuma and Roka.

Renowned for his ambition and creativity, Becker first brought his modern Japanese cuisine to London ten years ago, in the form of the izakaya style of dining. Now, he is set to introduce a unique spin on a more familiar style to London’s restaurant scene with Oblix, an exciting dual dining experience opening in May 2013.

Located on the 32nd floor of The Shard, Oblix will incorporate a 100-seat restaurant with a 100-cover lounge and bar, creating a comprehensive, multi-purpose venue.

Diversifying from his traditional Japanese roots, Becker has referenced a New York grill as the inspiration for the menu, which promises to convey his customary finesse and elegance. Becker said, “Oblix offers a broad selection of dishes. The menu at its core will be a mixture of grilled and classics, offering a light tasty cuisine that guests can enjoy daily.”

In order to fully realise his vision, Becker has enlisted the expertise of French head chef Fabien Beaufour to head up the kitchen at Oblix. With his vast experience and professionalism, Beaufour seems to be the perfect foil to Becker’s enthusiasm and hunger for success.

However, the restaurant won’t be occupying all the attention, as the vibrant Oblix bar and lounge will feature live entertainment from 9pm onwards. Additionally available will be a delightful selection of appetisers for lunch, a brunch menu accompanied by live music on weekends, and a full a la carte menu for dinner seven nights a week.

Becker has characteristically channelled his passion into every last detail, even in the stylish, high quality uniforms of the Front of House staff, which have been designed by British fashion house Ted Baker.

Finally, architect Claudio Silvestrin has designed a sophisticated, yet comfortable interior environment with warm surroundings which complement one of the most impressive views in all of London.
