Yishay Malkov, the former director of Roka and Gordon Ramsey at Claridge’s Hotel manages the new opening together with Sean Burbidge, former head chef of Petrus,  in charge of the kitchen. The Ivy Market Grill offers a more informal take on The Ivy restaurant and serves as a perfect venue for the Covent Garden crowd to drop in for a quick fix – breakfast, coffee, or a small snack over a meeting.

Highlights on the breakfast menu include avocado, tomato and sesame, truffled eggs and griddled buttermilk pancakes. The cocktail menu complements the food in a simple and straightforward way with the Ivy Market Grill’s own gin and champagne. The highlights include Inigo Jones’ Fizz (Fragola Tosolini wild strawberry, basil & black pepper, topped with fizz) and Henrietta Maria Treacle (rum Treacle with Havana Especial, Amaro Averna and a dash of fig honey and orange bitters), not to mention classic martinis, negronis and juleps. An impressive list of craft beers and IPAs provide a little originality for the customer.

The interiors are inspired by the late 19th century industrial age with a faded grandeur illustrated in the mosaic floor tiles, the antique brass chandeliers, distressed paintwork and marble table tops in the café area. The orange and pewter bar takes the centre stage in this atmospheric, chic surroundings.
