Hush, the latest project from experienced restaurateur Jamie Barber, opened last month (8th June) opposite the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral. A new counterpart to the well-established Hush Mayfair, the St Paul’s edition of Barber’s successful group of restaurants and bars is living up to the expectations of its predecessors.

Hush St Paul’s, like Hush Holborn which opened in 2012, is a dedicated brasserie with the seating capacity for 120 guests. Offering a relaxed, informal atmosphere in a stylish setting, the restaurant is divided into two areas. There is a light and airy café at the front of the venue, and a brasserie with traditional panelled walls at the back. This provides guests with the option to come and go for casual drinks at their leisure, as well as being able to have a more conventional seated-dining experience. Additionally, Hush has a private dining area available for groups of up to 20 people.

Prior to the restaurant’s launch, Barber stated: “We are thrilled to be bringing Hush Brasseries to this spectacular location right opposite the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral and look forward to introducing our simple and satisfying dishes to the vibrant local community.”

The menu at Hush is simple and refined, serving modern European dishes which appeal to a wealth of varying tastes. Highlights include Lobster Roll with Horseradish Mayonnaise and Frites, Pulled Pork, Yorkshire Pudding with Apple and Calvados, Taglierini pasta with Half Lobster, Chilli and Garlic and Hush’s Mars Bar Cheesecake. There is also a separate breakfast menu, and a brunch menu at weekends, which is particularly accomodating. Finally, the drinks menu is equally pleasing and contains a number of wines, cocktails and spirits.

Hush was designed by Alex Michaelis of Michaelis Boyd, the same architects who Barber worked with on Hush Mayfair, now one of London’s most famous and popular bars.
